A parent writes:
"We used SOS with
our son for grades 9-12 in all subjects and were
thrilled with the results. _________ is a very
quick child who doesn't have a lot of tolerance for
"busy work." He found your
curriculum to be very comprehensive and
entertaining. He tested very well on his ACT
... I am pleased to report that the curriculum was
just the preparation he needed to face his freshman
year at __________ University where he is
a Computer Science Major. He came home with a
4.0 GPA at Christmas and after spring semester he
has a GPA of 4.0 for his entire freshman year!!
He really appreciated all he learned in Bible and
History and said they were the perfect preparation
for his classes in Bible and Humanities, classes
which can be freshman wipeouts."
The latest version of
Alpha Omega Publication’s CD- based Switched-On

Automatic Lesson Plans
Organizing your lesson plans and setting due dates is easier
than ever. Automatic lesson plans are based on your school
calendar. Generate a year’s worth of lesson plans with the
click of a button. The schoolwork is spread evenly over the
year according to the number of questions. You can even change
the lesson plans if you have to adjust your school calendar
partway through the year. Due dates are automatically computed
and posted for the student. What a great way to stay
organized! Better yet, the teacher is automatically notified
when a student falls behind.
Automatic Grading and Instant
Feedback
Imagine being able to eliminate that large stack of grading
that is sitting on your desk demanding your attention. Your
students won’t have to wait to get their work returned.
Instant grading saves you time and gives immediate feedback to
the student. Grades are automatically computed and recorded as
lessons are completed. For teacher graded paragraph answers
and essay questions, answer keys provide suggested answers and
marking guidelines. Grading has never been such a pleasure.
Full Multimedia
Education comes alive through multimedia. Science experiments
are first demonstrated by multimedia with full instructions
for hands-on completion. In geometry, three-dimensional
objects are illustrated with computer-generated video clips of
these objects rotating in space. Video clips illustrating
events in the Bible, literature and history are used to
enhance and bring the curriculum to life. Sound captures of
the vocabulary words allow students to hear how each word is
pronounced, and spelling tests are given directly by the
computer. DLAs challenge students to apply the information
they’ve been studying. Students will enjoy the math
“chalkboards,” Spelling Bee, Vocabulocity, Timeline, and
more. New in 2007 Edition are selections of Flash animation at the
student’s homepage.
Book Reports
Designed to integrate reading, writing, and thinking, Language
Arts book report projects for grades 3-8 feature genre
highlights, annotated book lists, and links to additional
resources. Thought provoking questions provide a structure in
which students can reflect upon, evaluate, and write about the
books they choose.
Custom Curriculum
This feature allows you to modify existing SOS subjects by
combining, adding, or removing units and assignments. Or, you
can choose to build your own curriculum from scratch using any
of the available SOS materials. Teachers can build learning
programs that address student learning gaps or offer remedial
or review work. Now you are able to create a course tailored
to the individual need of your student!
Work Mode
With flexible navigation, the new
Work Mode in SOS 2007 Edition will allow students to view
presentations, complete lesson problems in and out of
sequence, and record notes and questions on the electronic
notepad. Utilizing the status bar, students will be able to
track their progress through quizzes and tests.
Internal “e-mail” System
Communication is made easy with improved internal messaging.
Switched-On Schoolhouse 2007 Edition messaging allows you to attach
messages to each problem in the lesson and add instructions or
comments for your students to view in their personal
electronic mailboxes. Teachers are notified immediately of
messages and now can access, sort, and print messages in one
convenient place.
Student Resource Center
Important resources are now at your fingertips! A dictionary
and calculator are integrated into Switched-On Schoolhouse 2007 Edition
for student convenience. An interactive periodic table, with
zoom feature and element highlights, makes chemistry fun and
exciting. Each element is hyperlinked to its own page to
provide more information.
Mastery Learning
Focused learning just got even better with 2007 Edition. Students may
be given unlimited opportunities to achieve 100% mastery
before they move to the next lesson. Incorrect answers will
automatically spiral again. However, new in 2007 Edition is the ability
to limit the number of attempts. The software will
automatically calculate the chosen penalty for guessing
attempts, thus encouraging the student to “dig deep” for
important information and learn it well!
Tracking, Reporting and Printing
New flexible printing takes learning from the screen to the
page. Students and teachers can easily print entire
assignments, lessons, problems, and records. These options
give the busy family greater flexibility and mobility or
easier homework distribution for the Christian school.

Flexible, complete, award winning…these
are just some of the words used to describe Alpha Omega
Publication’s LIFEPAC curriculum for students in grades
K-12. LIFEPAC stands alone in its teacher-friendly layout and
instructional flow.
Serving
as the foundation of the entire Alpha Omega curriculum,
LIFEPAC is a complete, 12-year Christian curriculum designed
to teach five core subjects (Bible, Language Arts, Math,
History & Geography, and Science), plus an array of
secondary electives. Composed of consumable textbook/workbook
combinations that conveniently combine subject text,
exercises, projects, review, and tests, this worktext format
is designed for active teachers and home school educators who
want the advantage of extensive, pre-developed curricula with
integrated lesson plans.
Mastery Learning
LIFEPAC's full-color, worktext curriculum is based on the
principle of mastery learning, in which students truly master
the context and skills of one unit before progressing to the
next. Different students learn at different speeds, so mastery
learning ensures success by allowing each student to move at
his or her own speed.
Critical Thinking Skills
Many specific LIFEPAC curriculum activities and questions
require students to go beyond simple objective recall, asking
them to instead, think analytically and draw conclusions that
require a conceptual understanding of the material. More than
just recalling facts, your student will grasp concepts through
analytical and evaluative thinking skills.
Additional LIFEPAC Key Features
 | Individualized – Tailor a course of
study to meet your student’s individual need
 | Integrated Biblical concepts and
principle reinforcement
 | Minimal lesson planning
 | Flexible and customizable
 | Substantial savings over traditional
hardbound texts
 | Balance independent study with parent
interaction
 | Complete spiral-bound Teacher's
Guides for lesson planning and charting student progress. |

Math and Language Arts are critical study
areas acting as an anchor for the success of your student.
Brightly illustrated lessons for grades K-6 include a variety
of activities, making learning fun. Complete teacher materials
make it easy to chart your student’s progress. Each of the
160 lessons begins with a new concept or an expansion of a
previously covered concept. Every concept follows a deliberate
pattern of introduction and gradual development, ensuring
mastery.
Horizons
Penmanship - Horizons Penmanship
teaches the basics of proper writing to students in grades 1-2
in a series of lessons over 32 weeks. Your child will practice
both printing and cursive writing styles by following the
actions of friendly, colorful cartoon characters. In addition,
the course helps your child become more familiar with
Scripture by writing out weekly Bible verses.
Horizons
Phonics and Reading - Horizons
Phonics and Reading is a program for kindergarten or grade 1 students
that begins to comprehensively develop the reading skills
acquired in preschool. This phonics-based word recognition and
early reading program, an alternative to the kindergarten
LIFEPAC Gold curriculum, uses brightly illustrated readers to
teach the alphabet and letter sounds, reading, spelling,
rhyming, sequence and elementary parts of speech. Mastery
learning ensures concepts are mastered before your child
advances to the next lesson.
The
Horizons Mathematics program is
an alternative to the LIFEPAC Gold Curriculum for the early
grade levels, which concentrates on building elementary skills
in math. Available for students in K through 6th, Horizons
Math lays a solid foundation for math success.
